Paul Huber '73 has spent more than four decades serving families with compassion, care and extraordinary dedication through his leadership of Huber Funeral Homes. A deeply engaged community leader, he has supported countless local organizations, events, youth programs and service efforts through both volunteerism and philanthropy. His lasting impact reflects a life defined by an unwavering commitment to helping others in times of greatest need.

Huber’s favorite memories of Minnetonka High School stem from the friendships and strong sense of community he experienced, alongside memorable athletic moments—including being able to bench press 300 pounds as a ninth grader. Beyond sports, Huber discovered a passion for service early in life. Growing up in Excelsior, he assisted his father with the family funeral business, doing everything from moving caskets to preparing chapel spaces for memorial services.

After graduating from Minnetonka, Huber completed a two-year program at St. John’s University before earning his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Minnesota. He then returned home to lead Huber Funeral Homes, dedicating his career to comforting grieving families.

“The funeral profession is the most demanding and the least understood of all professions,” Huber reflected. “Deaths rarely occur at a ‘convenient’ time. We will meet with a family to make arrangements any day of the year—even Christmas Day. It is our honor to help them through the process.”

Huber is also an active community leader, serving on numerous local boards of directors such as the Rotary Club, the Excelsior-Lake Minnetonka Chamber of Commerce and as a leader in the Boy Scouts. His philanthropic support touches nearly every corner of local life—from local churches and youth athletics like the Diamond Club and Touchdown Club, to community staples like Art on the Lake, Apple Days, ICA Food Shelf and Feed My Starving Children. 

As Huber looks back on a lifetime spent serving the community he loves, he points back to a core value reinforced during his time at Minnetonka: a personal twist on the Golden Rule: “Do unto others as you would want family to do unto you.”
