Welcome! Whether your family is joining Minnewashta for the first time or has been part of our community for years, we are glad you are here.

At Minnewashta, we believe every child deserves to be known, valued, challenged, and supported. Relationships and belonging create the foundation, and from that foundation we work to help students become increasingly capable, independent, and confident learners.

Our work this year is grounded in three words: Connect. Empower. Inspire.

Connect

We want every student to know: I am known. I am valued. I am part of this community.

Empower

We want every student to believe: I can learn. I can contribute. I can solve problems. I can advocate for myself and others. I can make a difference.

Inspire

We want students to discover what is possible—within themselves, through one another, and in the world around them. Our hope is that every child leaves Minnewashta more connected, more capable, and more confident than when they arrived.

Students First

We are fortunate to have talented educators who care deeply about children and hold high expectations for their learning. We are equally committed to continuing to grow as educators ourselves.

Throughout the year, our staff will work collaboratively to strengthen instruction, examine evidence of student learning, and respond when students need additional support or challenge. When we face competing ideas or difficult decisions, we will return to a question that guides our work:

Which approach gives students the greatest opportunity to learn?

That keeps our attention where it belongs—on students.

Learning Together

Families are essential partners in this work. You know your child in ways we never can. Our educators bring knowledge and experience about teaching, learning, and child development. When we listen to one another, share what we know, ask questions openly, and learn together, children benefit.

This year, we will continue creating opportunities for families to connect with us, learn alongside us, ask questions, and share what you are experiencing. We don't want communication to happen only when something is wrong. We want to hear what is working, what you are wondering about, and what we can learn from you. Please reach out. Our partnership matters.

Minnewashta is a remarkable community, but our work is never finished. We will continue learning, reflecting, and improving because the children who walk through our doors deserve our very best. I look forward to another year of learning together.
